Lindsay Mackenzie is a self-described semi-nomadic freelance photographer and trip leader from Vancouver, Canada. For the last three years Lindsay has worked as a tour leader, organizing, teaching and guiding groups around the world.

She has led more than 450 clients in 17 countries for Adventures Abroad Worldwide Travel. In the summers of 2009 and 2010 Lindsay worked for National Geographic Student Expeditions, teaching photography in Ecuador and archaeology in Peru.

When not leading groups, Lindsay spends her time working as a photographer and travel writer. Her work has been broadcast on CNN and published in The Vancouver Sun, Pique Newsmagazine, Canadian House and Home, The Sounder, and the National Geographic Student Expeditions Catalogue.

Lindsay has hosted travel photography exhibitions in Hamilton, New York and in Vancouver, British Columbia. Her photography is also featured in a permanent exhibition at the Liu Centre for Global Issues at the University of British Columbia. Lindsay has also worked as a summer reporter for Whistler’s Pique Newsmagazine and has edited and contributed to blogs for National Geographic Student Expeditions and for National Geographic’s My Wonderful World Blog.

After obtaining a BA in Geography from Colgate University in 2005, Lindsay traveled independently for one year as a Thomas J. Watson Fellow exploring issues of conservation and development in Europe, the Middle East, Southern Africa and Central America. She has studied the dynamics of international organizations in Geneva and has volunteered for NGOs in Kosovo and Argentina.

Lindsay is currently slated to work as a travel show host for Culturally Fit when the show obtains production funding. She is also plotting a journey in 2012 from Tokyo to Timbuktu to document the lives of women along the way.
